The Great Catsby

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Great Catsby! My name is Nancy, and I will be your personal detective today to spy on the most magnificent pet’s party in history, where only the world’s most well-known pets have the privilege to attend. I will lead you through the whole party although I am still a bit lost here, sorry, there are just too many rooms. Hopefully I’ll be able to figure out my north from south.  Ah, right! This way, follow me!

Let us find where the host is! I was making my way into the hall when I bumped into her, the one and only, Choupette Lagerfeld. She is an absolute queen, so noble, elegant and… rich. If you don’t know her, you’re missing out. She is all over Instagram, credits to her famous daddy Karl Lagerfeld, but she has managed to  successfully steal a lot of spotlight from Karl (Sorry, Karl!) by being a Stylight Award Nominee within the Vision cat-egory in 2016, and appearing in a Vauxhall Corsa car calendar with Kate Moss, Linda Evangelista and Naomi Campbell. Believe it or not, she has her personal chef who previously worked for Nobu Paris, two maids, a bodyguard, an iPad, a private car and jet so that she can travel to wherever she wants. And she enjoys every meal by having them served in Goyard dishes (rumor has it that it is worth $4,500). Spoiled, high maintenance or whatever you say, she doesn’t give a s**t because it is simply the case of sour grapes. Ohhh she is walking towards me, why am I shaking?

Me: Hhhhi…Hi! My name is Nancy from Animour. Thank you so much for having me today. It is such a wonderful party!

Choupette: Help yourself.

Me: I am so sorry about the bad news (Karl Lagerfeld has passed away). May I ask who will have the honor to be your company from now on?

Choupette: There is no such thing called company if Karl is no longer here. He will be forever missed. And you are blocking my way.

I’ve got to admit that the aura around Choupette is a bit overwhelming but she is a truly a loyal friend after all, which I completely admire. Oh! I see some of my old friends: Blanket and Pumpkin – Grace Coddington’s cat and Léon – Nicolas Ghesquière’s dog. Grace Coddington had them sketched out and featured everywhere on this season’s Louis Vuitton collection. It was so full of fun, sensation, and love. Animal lovers, what are you waiting for? I know someone’s gonna break the bank.

Not gonna lie, it is quite tiring walking around this enormous party hall with champagne in my hands and looking non-stop for some familiar faces and physiques to interview.

Guess who I spot next? Neville Jacobs is here; he must be very tired from the long flight all the way from America. I am such a big fan of him, not because of his dad is Marc Jacobs but for his own personal charisma, dressing style, and sharp perspective about the fashion world depicted in his bibliography I’m Marc’s Dog.

Me: Hey Neville! It is so nice getting to meet you finally. Can you tell me a bit about the Sato Project you are working on?

Neville: So basically, all the profits from my book will go to this project, which is dedicated to rescue my abandoned and abused cousins in Puerto Rico and find homes for them.

Me: What you’re doing is so great!

Neville: Thank you! Here is a small gift for you. (a “Compassion is Always in Fashion” T-shirt was handed over to me by his assistant. I was flattered!)

The second I turned around, trying to find my next interviewee, a pug entourage rushed beside me and I immediately recognized that they were Valentino’s pooch gang – Molly, Margot, Maggie and Monty Valentino. I asked them how their cocktails were but they did not seem impressed at all: “It’s… meh. Of course it can’t be compared with the cocktails served by our private butler.”

Later that night, I saw more celebrity felines and pooches including Audrey Hepburn (a Jack Russel accompanied by Donatella Versace), Lua (a pit bull owned by Gisele Bunchen), Hector Brown (a miniature dachshund bathed in the love of Thorn Browne and Andrew Bolton) and many more. It was just like Midnight in Paris in the sense that it was so unreal. I absolutely enjoyed it, but was also a little bit jealous of their wealth and status in the fashion industry. Anyways, I’d better go back to work. Thank you for following me on this tour tonight and I’ll see you at next year’s Great Catsby.
